Out of The School Experiences, for That Extra Input of Learning

Nothing is more impactful than hands on experiences. Going out on field trips is not only great fun but creates an unforgettable exposure to the real world. A trip to the local supermarket, zoo, waterfront park, a farm, a library, a museum, a theatre, a community garden, a restaurant, are all experiences from which students gain practical knowledge.

Learning outcomes:

Enjoyed the village atmosphere.
Understood basic farming, including seed selection, selecting the land and airing, making manure, seed dibbling and irrigation.
Use of simple tools like rakes, tape and seeds.
Harvesting and planting the saplings in rows and columns.
Pounding the grains using the ancient traditional grain mill called ‘thiragali/chakki’.
Creating an organic mixture of garlic and neem for use as a natural pesticide.
Petting farm animals and milking cows.

A Journey to Cherish- Salar Jung Museum

Field trips can bring one dimensional lessons to life and create interest for a subject, something that is hard to duplicate through classroom lectures! Owing to this, Kairos International School has organized a field trip to the Salar Jung Museum on 7 th of November 2022. Students of Stage 3 to Stage 9 were taken to the Salar Jung Museum. The trip began with a lot of enthusiasm and vigor. The museum showcased collection of ancient manuscripts, ceramics, metallic artefacts, carpets, sculptures, textiles, paintings and clocks. Students observed these artefacts which belonged to different civilizations with great admiration. Most of the articles in the museum represented the great culture and heritage of India. This induced and increased awareness about India in students. Watching the great clock ringing at 12 P.M amazed the children. Veiled Rebecca, ivory carvings, weapons of Mughal emperors were some of the sections in the gallery that interested the children.On the whole it was an enriching learning experience for students.
